About Community Based Consulting
I’m Monique Vanden'Aklie, founder of Community Based Consulting (CBC). My work is shaped by studies in International Human Rights, International Policy and Development, and an MBA, but most importantly by lived experience.
While earning my bachelor’s degree, I traveled to Ghana, West Africa, and co-founded what is now the Volta Resilient Foundation—built from the ground up with no funding, no connections, and no infrastructure. Over nearly a decade, I worked alongside local leaders to design programs, manage projects, secure funding, and form partnerships with organizations like UNHCR and USAID. Our anti-trafficking initiatives reduced child exploitation in high-risk communities by over 60%, rescued and rehabilitated survivors, and created ongoing education and mentorship programs for at-risk youth.
Returning to Bend, Oregon, I launched CBC in 2023 to apply the same equity-driven, community-led strategies here at home. Today, we partner with 30+ organizations, providing grant writing, strategic planning, project management, and program development—turning vision into funded, sustainable reality for the communities that need it most.

Hayley Figueroa, Lead Grant Writer at Community Based Consulting (CBC), combines creativity, strategy, and precision to craft competitive, fundable proposals. Completing her college degree while still in high school, she built a career in marketing, copywriting, and management before joining CBC. Her skill in blending persuasive storytelling with compliance helps clients secure funding and advance their missions.
